Weather
Probably boring to most folks, I love weather phenomena. Here I will share some pics of what I have seen.

Storm over Brighton, NY from my roof.

Thursday the 27th, we had some surprise snow. Yuck!

Nice walk on Saturday
Nice walk on Sunday.

Good night for T-storms!
Full resolution:
Wow.
800 For sharing:

Spectacular sunset evening.

A few days earlier, we had ugly weather, the April 16th Nor'Easter. It actually lasted from April 15th through the 17th. Blah!

More ice storm...

DSC03842-1.JPG (4888227 bytes)Full resolution sunset from work (not window crud!)

DSC03818.JPG (324198 bytes)Front yard icing.
DSC03839.JPG (299018 bytes)Iced-up tree from the view at work! (BTW this got approvers choice on Weather Underground)

An "Orange" storm, sun was setting while it raged on! Very cool storm, and violent!

Some recent shots of a tornadic storm over Rochester, NY, Full resolution so they are HUGE! Taken from the roof of the house. Yes, I am a nut.

Storms to the left of us, storms to the right! Why do they always pass us by? The clear slot is what is headed our way.
This was the base of the rotating cloud.
A more distant view. Note lower left of the cloud. That is the South-west corner of the storm. Pretty much over Irondiquoit, NY at this point
Some of the icy clouds as the storm slipped-by. Quite a view! Pictures don't serve it justice.
The storm to our south. No thunder to be heard, but it was a heck of a blob on the radar.

MissedIt.jpg (19090 bytes)This would have been sweet if I hadn't missed it. Grrr!

June14Storm1.jpg (17250 bytes)A serious kick-ass lightning show. Missed most of the awesome lightning shots thanks to "dark frame subtraction". What a frigging pain.

BizzareSky.jpg (23918 bytes)800x450. No, my white balance was correctly set for cloudy. Yes, this is odd looking. This is due to a large thunderstorm to our south while the sun was setting. The sunset colors were reflecting off the large thunderhead, but it was obscured by clouds. It looked very creepy and ominous, and we could rear the rapport of thunder just to our south. Really cool weather!!!

Rainbow.jpg (56284 bytes)800x600 a rainbow. A bit faint so I had to crank the color a little to bring it out.

May 24, 2004 until April 28.

FullWheelbarrow.jpg (92739 bytes) FarTooMuchRain.jpg (131060 bytes) We have had 5 inches of rain in three days (May 20-24th!!!)

May 1, through 7

SpringLightning2.jpg (27363 bytes) springlihtnin.jpg (30426 bytes)  A few weather lightning shots. I didn't know lightning pictures were so damn hard!!! Every time the camera was taking the "dark frame" for noise reduction, I would miss a fantastic shot! Really, really frustrating.

MoonRiseInMay.jpg (47041 bytes) Moon rise, handheld with telephoto. Not pleased at all with the Raynox. However it is still a cool pic.

April 20, 2004

Yes, it has been a while! Here are a few of my recent favs.

April19BigStormComing.jpg (44322 bytes)800x600, an approaching severe storm...

SomethingWickedApril19.jpg (16126 bytes)800x600, green sky. Getting closer!

April19BigStorm2Rain.jpg (18797 bytes)800x600, here comes the rain.

April19BigStorm1.jpg (15877 bytes)800x600, the gust front has passed, look at that sky! Wow did it get dark!

It has been a while, I know! Happy St. Patrick's day! (March 17, 2004)

SnowWaves.jpg (21093 bytes)Wild drifts from the recent snow storm. "marching waves" I call them. I think they result from persistent linear winds.
